Attention small business members…

On Monday, April 4, 2022, the City of St. Louis will launch the Small Business Grant Fund to assist small businesses that have been adversely impacted by COVID-19 through in-person events only.

The online application form and the printable drop-off form will become available online on April 14, 2022, 9:30 A.M.

Through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the total amount of the funding available for disbursement is $4,500,000. The grant amounts will be $5,000 each. Please note, successfully submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be funded due to ineligibility or availability of funds.

SLDC will host a virtual town hall on Thursday, March 31 from 5:30 – 6:30 P.M. outlining the application process and will answer questions from the public. Information for joining the webinar is below:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to be considered eligible to apply for the STL Small Business Grant Fund, your business must meet all of the below criteria:

  • 25 or fewer employees 

  • The primary place of business must be located in the City of St. Louis.

  • The US Treasury presumes that small businesses are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic if they are operating in one of the following areas: 

  1. HUD Qualified Census Tract (You can check if you are in a Qualified Census Track here).

  2. Promise Zone

  3. Opportunity Zone

  4. Neighborhood Revitalization Stabilization Area 

  • Demonstrate COVID-19 hardship 

    1. Examples of a COVID-19 hardship include but are not limited to:

      1. Decreased revenue or gross receipts

      2. Financial insecurity; Increased costs

      3. Challenges covering payroll, rent, mortgage, and other operating costs

      4. Capacity to weather financial hardship

 

  • Owners do not have a conflict of interest (no City employees or immediate family, includes family by marriage)

  • Does not discriminate per City of St. Louis ordinances 

  • Must have  a current business license 

  • Cannot be barred from receiving federal funds

  • Must be current on all City taxes

  • Approved Certified Business Intermediary Form

Businesses listed below are NOT eligible for this program. Please do not apply if your business is not eligible.

The following businesses are NOT eligible to apply:

  • Banks & Financial Institutions

  • Law Firms & Attorneys

  • Physicians, Dentists, Surgeons, Optometrists, Chiropractors, & Veterinarians

  • Insurance Brokers & Agents

  • Real Estate Brokers & Sales Agents

  • Architects, Engineers, & Land Surveyors
