Every year we wrap up with a look at the year, a review of the challenges, and then look ahead for the new year. Whether you are an owner, an architect, a contractor, a supplier, or business support this program will equip you with state of the design and construction industry in the region. David brings his results of surveys to local design firms and shares primary data to update us on the state of design services. Brian will share details on what and how we are doing as a region. And, Erin will share an update on construction and challenges as well as the forecast for 2024.

Our Speakers:
David Kehm, Principal (FGMA)
David is a Principal at FGM Architects (FGMA), a 200-person architecture firm with eight offices around the country, including St. Louis and O’Fallon, IL. FGMA specializes on higher-ed, K-12, multi-family, municipal, corporate, federal, and faith-based projects. David is currently involved in projects with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC), Kaskaskia College, the City of Farmington, and the City of Alton. He brings 37 years of experience in architecture and our region. David earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kansas State University. He is a long time volunteer of SLC3 and currently serves on the SLC3 Strategic Planning Committee, Membership Committee and is Co-Chair of the Golf Committee. He has provided information for this program for a number of years now.
Brian Feldman, VP Business Attraction (Greater St. Louis, Inc.)
Brian Feldman is Vice President of Business Attraction for Greater St. Louis, Inc. He works with companies, both foreign and domestic, during their site selection process by representing St. Louis’ 15-county region. Brian assists businesses with detailed market research, real estate inquiries, incentives, and connections to various business stakeholders, among other services. Greater St.Louis, Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to creating a regional economy that is both more competitive and inclusive. By working collaboratively, GSL builds regional capacity to create high-quality jobs, drive an economic agenda focused on long-term growth, and have the greatest community impact.
Brian comes from a workforce development background, working at The LaunchCode Foundation prior to joining Greater St. Louis, Inc. At LaunchCode, he placed more than 600 individuals into technology-related jobs while solving mission-critical problems for company partners. Enterprise-level customers included the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Microsoft, Comcast, Mastercard, Centene, and Cigna.
Erin Valentine, VP Business Development (McCarthy)
As Vice President of Business Development, Erin Valentine manages McCarthy’s St. Louis-based business development team, focusing on the core building markets of Healthcare, Commercial, Education, and Science and Technology. She’s a member of the leadership team that guides McCarthy’s strategic business operations across its 28-state Central Region. Since joining McCarthy in 2001, Valentine has helped position the company to secure numerous new projects while building valuable relationships with clients and industry partners. As a founding member of the McCarthy Partnership for Women employee resource group, she has also overseen several national initiatives to strengthen McCarthy’s client relationships.
