Julie Lawson has more than 20 years of experience as a nonprofit executive and leadership consultant. She is the Founder and CEO of Reins Institute, a leadership development and association management company providing customizable leadership development and programming and association management services. As a leadership consultant and certified coach, Julie has trained more than 3,500 leaders and managers.

Julie provides leadership coaching and development programming to small- to mid-size professional development organizations. Through her work with Reins Institute, she serves as Executive Director for two national associations and two St. Louis-based associations.  Before launching her company in 2018, Julie served as the inaugural Executive Director of the Missouri Supreme Court’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness.

Julie is considered a national expert in terrorism victimization by the Department of Justice. She is a certified trainer in cultural competency for the U.S. Department of Justice and a Certified Crisis Responder for the National Organization for Victims Assistance. She is certified in a variety of leadership testing and methodologies and holds her Change Management certification from Cornell University.

Julie holds two advanced degrees in organizational psychology and communications and a bachelor’s degree in Media. She is a frequent speaker on a variety of subjects related to the importance of resiliency, diversity of thought, emotional intelligence, and trauma recovery.

In addition to her clients at Reins Institute, Julie serves as the Executive Director of the Association of VA Hematology/Oncology, is the Board President for the Crime Victim Center, and founder of the National Alliance for Victims.
