Habit #19: Take out the Trash
Mental trash can include…
- Yesterday’s hurts
- Past mistakes
- Old truths that are no longer true
- Beliefs that no longer help
Our brain has a finite amount of storage and when it’s full of trash, it’s hard to see anything new or good. To make room for new information and increase our ability to see the positive – we must take out the trash.
Remember:
Brains have limited storage so fill it wisely.
Performance Tips:
- Take only what you need to thrive.
- Let go of old baggage. It may (or may not) have served you in the past. If it’s not serving you today, leave it. You don’t have to keep carrying that junk.
- Empty your brain of clutter with lists, systems, calendars, or a new narrative.
- Use your limited storage capacity to hold positive affirmations and helpful beliefs.
